Pirkei Avos 3:8

“One who walks on the road while reviewing Torah “

“One who walks on the road while reviewing Torah, and interrupts his learning and says ‘How beautiful is this tree…’, he bearsguilt for his soul.”

“Wouldn’t it be better for me to pray when I feel like it, rather than be dictated by a specific time etc??”

There are many answers to thatquestion, but based on a thought I saw from Rabbi Dr. Abraham Twerski onAvos 3:8, I would say the following: Before the Torah was given, people attained closeness to Hashem based on their emotions and intellect. Once wereceived the Torah and the Mitzvos, they became the vehicle that brings usto Hashem. (Of course we must use our intellect and emotions in our service of Hashem, but the Torah is the foundation.)
